Hockey5s Festival 2025

Friday 30 May – Sunday 1 June 2025

We are delighted to be hosting the inaugural OCHC Hockey5s festival this May Bank Holiday and would love you to join us.

For those new to Hockey5s, it’s a fast-paced, fun game that combines the boards, technical skill and excitement of indoor hockey with the traditional outdoor format. Our Hockey5s festival will take place on our home astro and is a great opportunity to experience Hockey5s for the first time, in a fun competitive tournament. There will be entertainment at the clubhouse on both Friday and Saturday evenings after the hockey finishes and it promises to be a brilliant weekend of competitive, social hockey!

Introducing Hockey5s

For those unfamiliar with Hockey5s, take a look at the highlights of the recent FIH Hockey5s World Cup HERE

For Hockey5s, a team usually consists of 4 outfield players and 1 GK with a maximum squad size of 8.

We will be playing the Festival using Hockey5s rules, summarised below:

  • All 8 team tournaments will be split into two pools of 4, with semi finals and a final for the top 2 teams, and a placing game for each team that finished 3rd and 4th after the group stages.
  • Every team is guaranteed a minimum of 4 matches, and the top 4 teams from each group are guaranteed 5 matches.
  • Each match will be 10 minutes one-way.
  • Indoor hockey rules with 3D skills and lifted passes allowed.
  • There is no D – you can score from anywhere and the GK can touch the ball anywhere.
  • Aerials are permitted if not dangerous.
  • There will be no penalty corners during the tournament to speed up play. In the case of a a foul, such as a foot or back stick, a free hit from the half-way line will be awarded.
  • Deliberate or dangerous actions will result in a 8-second shootout from the half-way line.
  • Defenders must be 3m away from the free hit.
  • The ball must travel 3m on attacking free hits before shots.
  • If the ball leaves the field, the restart is 1m inside boards from where the ball went out.
  • Deliberate foul play – 30 second yellow card.
