The OC juggernaut rolls on and the 1’s are now nine points clear with five matches to go. We are expecting a big home crowd on Saturday for the game against 4th placed Hampstead as the game coincides with the Vets/Former Players lunch. JJ has ordered the port in. “Roll up roll up” as they say.
Comedy moments of the week came in the Hamstrings match. Foxy was sent off for slapping an opponent in the face after he had stuck his tongue out at him. See the brilliant photo on Flickr. Was this vets hockey or U10’s? When Martin Williamson then questioned the impartiality of the Old Louts umpire as he continued to coach the team whilst blowing the whistle, the response was a “V” sign and a suggestion as to where to go!! Charming.
The 2’s should have beaten Oxted, and probably would have if their ex 1’s strikers had known the way to goal. Gav rolled a penalty stroke gently into the goalie’s pads and Smudger blazed a shot so far wide from 10 yards that the clubhouse windows were in danger.
The Barnstormers run continued with back to back wins against Tulse Hill & Dulwich thanks to a brace from Richie and a sniff from Howie after some brilliant unselfish, body on the line stuff from the pacey left winger…
Finally, Sophie’s training for the London Marathon is going well so please don’t forget to sponsor her.
