We are delighted to announce the appointment of Adam Ward as our new Director of Junior Hockey. Adam brings with him a wealth of hockey coaching experience and expertise, having coached successful teams at school, club, county and England level during his career. He is FIH Level 2 qualified and is currently continuing his professional development with England Hockey’s Advanced Coaching Programme.
With over 600 OCHC Juniors now playing each week, Adam will help us deliver on our aspiration to nurture great hockey players of the future within a friendly and supportive club environment. Adam will be coaching weeknight and Sunday sessions, alongside leading our wider coaching provision to ensure we deliver fantastic skill and match play development for all our players every week, right from our U6s starting out, through to our U16s and U18s moving into Adult hockey.
Adam has strong links with England Hockey, which will enable us to leverage the work being undertaken at a strategic level to improve the game and he’ll work closely with David Mathews, Director of Hockey to bring that to life at OCs.
We are currently finalising next season’s timetable and will be in touch again in July with information about membership renewals for the 2022-23 season.
Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity once more to put on record our thanks to Lauren Moors, who has done so much for the Junior section of the club. And I’m sure you’ll join me in welcoming Adam to the club, I know he can’t wait to get started.
Gavin Adair, Chairman, OCHC Juniors
