Ladies Martlets & Friends 5-3 Croydon & Old Whitgiftian Ladies 3s
We treated ourselves to a bank holiday weekend game, playing a very friendly match against the development team from Croydon & Old Whitgiftian. After a slightly slow start on our side where Croydon took first honours with a cheeky goal, we rallied ourselves, gave ourselves a good talking to (thanks Paula & Pam!) and picked up the pace….
We settled into a nice rhythm in the 2nd phases of the game, moving nicely and making use of the full width of the pitch (who says we don’t listen coaches!!). Goals came in steady succession with Lily, Kirsty, Jeanette, Lucy and Annie all contributing, and with a few near misses as well as some fantastic saves by the opposition defence who without a goalie were really making us work for the score line. Croydon remained strong throughout too and were able to secure one further goal but Izzy in goal kept us up to the mark consistently making sure the gap could not be closed any further.
My favourite part of this match has to be seeing so many of the B2H originals from the very first sessions over three years ago, still on the pitch having fun together and being the senior players supporting our newest B2H players. A class game showing just how far we’ve come. Final score a 5-2 win for Martlets.
Stormers 5-3 Spencer
Another hard fought game for the feisty Stormers which they ran out deserved winners.
Warriors 1-5 Sanderstead
A one -sided game in which we never really threatened a well-drilled and determined Sanderstead side.
