2018 is going to be one of the most important in recent years for the OCHC. In our 90th anniversary season it is our intention to build on the success of 2017 and to set the Club up for the next 10 years to our centenary.
We have a unique environment at Thames Ditton and over the last five years, through the expansion of the adult playing membership and the creation of the colts section, we have seen a staggering increase in our player base from well under 100 people to nearer 650.
The biggest project this year will be the relaying of the astroturf pitch. The refurbishment of the pitch is being undertaken as a joint venture between the Old Cranleighan Society and the OCHC. The OCHC committee has committed to contribute £100,000 towards the cost of the pitch. The new Legacy Fund is being launched this weekend (January 12) and this will be supported by other fund-raising initiatives including social events and team fund-raising targets, all of which will culminate in our 90th Anniversary Ball to be held in September. Our aim is to open the pitch on 1st September and to present the Society with our contribution at that time.
Not only will this project be a joint effort with the Society but it will also be a huge challenge to us as a Club and one which we want everyone to be part of. There is a lot of work to be done in the year ahead and the Club needs your support both individually and collectively. We are both convinced that as a Club we can do this so please join in on the journey and help us to achieve our goal.
