The Ladies 1XI started their league campaign with an excellent 2-1 victory over Old Kingstonians while our new Ladies side ,the OC Vamps, returned to league hockey with an impressive 11 – 0 drubbing of Mitcham. With the Men’s leagues kicking off next weekend the 1st XI won their friendly 4-2 against Woking and the 3rd XI were involved in a 10 goal thriller against Old Kingstonians ending 5-5. The day’s disappointing performance was a 4-2 loss for the Barnstormers against a strong Epsom side.
Jane Taylor reports on the result of the day….
“The OC Vamps made their league debut and there was some pre-match preparation in the Clubhouse with numbers being ironed on our original Maori shirts as our new OC shirts had not arrived on time. Once the iron was put away the team put in some sterling performances with a final score of 11-0. The opposition made few advances into our 25 and the Vamps kept the pressure up. Kathy Davis was top goal scorer with 7 goals, but there were excellent performances all round. Jane, Ellie, Margaret and Ingrid all got one goal. We are looking forward to the next match.”
