Greetings all, and a very Happy New Year finds the OCHC 1ST XI top of the table and chasing promotion again.
On SATURDAY 1st MARCH they play West Hampstead at 3pm, and with the Hamstrings at Raynes Park earlier in the morning it seems opportune to re-convene the Vets, has-beens, never were, and deranged for the 2014 Former players/Vets lunch. The only qualifications are that you must have a connection with someone who has at some stage played for the OCHC ,and are able to talk at length about prosthetics and remedial surgery.
Last year we had a very encouraging turnout of over 40 qualifying athletes, with people desperate for a drink coming from as far as Bath, Brighton and Harrogate. As far as anyone can remember it seemed to have been a success, and despite efforts to the contrary I have been unable to pass on the baton so have again been volunteered to disorganise this year’s event.
As a creature of habit I have decided that the format will be exactly the same as last year, ie foregather at TD circa 12 noon to acclimatise, lunch at 1pm sharp, very brief speeches and then watch the 1ST XI romp to victory at 3pm.Public transport is strongly advised, and Hawkeye will give you directions to Kingston hospital if required.
The cost of the luncheon , to include a 3-course meal is the same as last year , ie £25.00 per head, with any surplus going to club funds ( or over the bar). Wines/beers/ milk shakes are available upon request, and if you feel the need to bring any spectacular wine please feel free to do so but be prepared to pay £5 per bottle corkage. You might find you are suddenly very popular, even Grizzly.
To secure your place please contact me at Tony@eshp.com for payment details.
I hope you can all make it. I had very positive feedback about last year’s event and I hope the few who missed it last year will put in an appearance this year. The Ist XI said they got a real boost from playing in front of a vocal home crowd so let’s hope we can repeat last year’s success. You never know, we might even tempt Knappy out of retirement .
Best wishes, come on OC’s !
